A sunny Friday afternoon provided the perfect setting for another delicious and exciting Eternally Interesting event on CTQ’s deck.
Our feature guest that day was City Manager Ron Mattiussi. He shared his thoughts on the highlights and challenges of being in a leadership role with the City of Kelowna. Originally from Ontario and educated as a planner, Ron has been in Administration with our City for many years and has a wealth of knowledge and experience to share.
Of specific interest to our team was his experience working with other jurisdictions to ensure our region is successful and sustainable. Ron also spoke about the success of the Kelowna International Airport expansion, the welcoming of UBC Okanagan and the challenges of water management in our region.
Within the current administration, the decisions that are required to be made will affect the entire Okanagan, now and in the future. We believe our city is fortunate to have leader such as Ron, whose skills continue to help shape Kelowna as one of the best cities to live in Canada. www.kelowna.ca
CTQ also welcomed winemaker Will Hardman from Deep Roots Winery in Naramata. Will is a third generation Farmer and Grape Grower. He graciously shared some of his award winning wines and explained what makes Deep Roots unique within the wine industry. The Deep Roots wines that we tasted included their Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Rose, Chardonnay, Merlot and Syrah.
Although Deep Roots have been open for only three years, they have already won many local and national awards, the most recent of which are ‘2015 WineAlign Top 5 Small Winery in Canada’, and the ‘2015 WineAlign Top 10 Winery in BC’. You can find out more about Deep Roots on their website Deep Roots Winery.com, but we encourage you to visit their winery in Naramata.
