Downtown Revitalization – Valemount
CTQ was retained by the Village of Valemount in 2008 to prepare a refined concept plan and detail design for the Downtown Revitalization project. The Village’s goals for the downtown were to:
- Make the corridor “pedestrian friendly”
- Add hard and soft landscape features
- Improve parking, access and traffic calming
- Correct drainage issues
- Install a new watermain

Construction of the Village of Valemount Downtown Revitalization began in the summer of 2009 and was completed by late October. The addition of raised stone faced planters, curb flares, seating areas, ornamental street lighting, trees, shrubs and widened sidewalks of concrete pavers with concrete banding, has completely transformed the downtown commercial area.
The raised, landscaped centre median serves as an entry feature and traffic calming element together with the raised mid–block crossings. The emphasis is now on the pedestrian on the downtown streets.
Upon completion, the project has been very well received by the client and the residents of Valemount.
