The 16 acre SmartCentres site in Salmon Arm opened in December 2013. CTQ completed the design and contract administration for the civil infrastructure, including widening of the Trans Canada Highway, new municipal roadways and the overall site development.
The first phase of the 16 acre SmartCentres retail development site in Salmon Arm was completed in December of 2013, with the community’s long-awaited new Walmart store as the anchor tenant. CTQ provided the design and contract administration services for the civil infrastructure, which included widening and signalization of the Trans Canada Highway, construction of new municipal roadways and infrastructure to service the retail development parcels and construction of site servicing and surface works for the retail parcels. Challenges met on this project included environmental concerns and constraints associated with nearby Shuswap Lake and the new bridge crossing of Hobbs Creek, as well as high groundwater and summer traffic on the Trans Canada Highway. Despite these challenges, Walmart was opened to the public on schedule.
