McDonald Creek Provincial Park – Concept Plan
CTQ worked with BC Parks to prepare Conceptual Designs for the expansion of McDonald Creek Park on Arrow Lake.
The Park is a very popular destination for campers and the expansion designs were formulated to deal with providing additional campsites in the large open field immediately adjacent the entry to the park.
A new campground loop was envisioned for this space and also the reconfiguration of the entry road, placement of a shower building and parking, and sani-dump/field location were also part of this design assignment.
The final design was modified to deal with more of an overflow component on one side of the new campsite loop and allow for additional sites.
The overflow design is similar to the Friends Campground Design in Kokanee Creek Provincial Park. CTQ was also involved with the reconfiguration of this large day use area into an overflow/higher density style campground facility.
Frank Pohland was the project manager and designer for CTQ and worked closely with BC Parks Kootenay Region to prepare the conceptual design options for these projects.
