CTQ Welcomes Justin Rebello

CTQ is pleased to welcome Justin Rebello as Planning Lead. Justin is originally from Surrey, England, immigrating to Canada when he was 16.  Prior to completing a Double Degree in Political Science and International Development Studies, he spent time in South Africa and Ghana, gaining a passion for planning, community development and place making.  This led him to earn a Masters of Environmental Design (Urban Planning) from the University of Calgary focusing his Thesis on an Affordable Housing Strategy for a community he worked in as a Student Planner.    His career then took him to the City of Calgary, where over 10 years he held various Policy Planning, Implementation and Project Management roles primarily working for the City’s land development department as the lead for large scale Transit Oriented Development and Affordable Housing projects.  His most recent role over the last 2 years was the Manager of Planning and Development Services for the Town of Strathmore, an Urban Municipality just outside of Calgary, where he oversaw an entire department as well as led exciting Economic Development and Tourism projects to help promote the Town.

Justin is an active member of the Professional Planning Institute, and has taken over mentorship and guest lecturing opportunities at the University of Calgary.  He is passionate about dialogue and discourse, creating a comfortable and open environment for ideas to be shared, and for solutions to be found.  He believes relationships are the most important factor in any work place, project, contract or interaction, where strong relationships help to bridge gaps and promote a higher level of respect and work ethic for those involved.

Justin is a true family man, and is a proud husband to Janna and father to three amazing children Juliana (8), Sofia (6) and Tristan (2).  When his time isn’t spent with his family, going on day trips building new experiences and attending various activities and events, he is an avid sports fan, including English Football, Hockey, Football and Basketball.  Justin enjoys riding his bike exploring new pathways and destinations, and spending time friends he has known for over 20 years!  The Rebello’s also love to travel as a family, and have enjoyed recent trips over the past few years to exciting destinations such as Mexico and Florida enjoying the sunshine and beaches!

Justin joined CTQ in December 2020, and is excited to begin a new chapter of his career while bringing a high level of knowledge and experience he has gained in many different planning, land development and real estate roles.  Having sat on ‘both sides of table’ – Developer and Regulatory Body – he brings a unique perspective on Planning and the processes and requirements needed to see successful developments.  His passion has always been to help people, create sustainable and inclusive communities, and promoting attractive inclusive places which create a strong sense of identity where people want to live, work and play.  Relationship Building, Integrity, Collaboration and Recognition of Value are the cornerstones of his work.
