The 21st annual Flower Power Garden Tour is Saturday, June 16 from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm and features eight showstopper gardens.
Originally created by the Diggers and Weeders Garden Club as a fundraiser for various ‘green’ not for profit groups in the region. Several years ago, there was a change of hands when well known event coordinator, Debbie MacMillan took the helm. Since then she has continued to evolve the tour into one which highlights not only amazing gardens but current trends as well. The garden tour now known as “Flower Power” continues to feature interesting green topics every year.
This year’s funds will go to help support Chefs in the Classroom – a classroom gardening and cooking programme in elementary schools created by the Okanagan Chefs Association, and Central Okanagan Community Gardens – helping neighbourhoods and communities create sustainable green spaces for gardening, food production, gathering and education.
